Morning Prayer

Heavenly Father, give me this day my daily bread. With all mankind and with all your creatures I look to you for my needs. I pray Thee, take care of my soul and my body according to your grace and wisdom.

Give me food, drink, clothing, and shelter in the measure in which it is good for me, and make me completely content. Continue to give me health and work that I may earn my daily bread. Give me a generous heart that out of the abundance which you give, I may help the needy.

Oh God, I pray Thee also, bless and prosper the members of my family and my friends. Give us a government which rules for the welfare of all. Protect our country, our churches, our homes, our schools, that we may work quietly and enjoy your blessings in peace. Help us all to remember that our needs will be supplied as long as we rely on you and your bountiful mercy. For all things make me thankful.

Evening Prayer

Merciful Father, as the shadows of evening lengthen and the darkness deepens, I commit myself and all my loved ones to you. Forgive me my sins, guard me against fear, and keep sorrow and harm from me during this night. Keep also my dear ones and guide them on a safe path.

Oh God, have pity on the sin-stricken, and comfort them with your word. Raise the fallen, cheer the faint. In some way bring the comfort of your word to all who will receive it. Let them find a word in Scripture for their present need, or send them a messenger who will point them to you. Make all your faithful willing to open their hearts, their voices, and their purses, that the Word of Life may be brought to all people.

Give me rest from the labors of the day that I may awaken with a strong body and an alert mind tomorrow, prepared for whatever the day may bring. Keep me thankful, hopeful, and cheerful, ever intent on serving you and my fellow man.

For Peace Among The Nations

Almighty God, Ruler of all nations, who would have all men dwell together in peace and unity, raise up leaders in every land to choose peace instead of war and direct their people in pathways of friendship and understanding toward all men.

Help us all in our respective places to seek justice, to cultivate righteousness, and to walk humbly before you. Give us understanding minds so that, regardless of race or nationality, color, or station in life, we may realize that we are all of the same flesh and blood, your common creation.

Retrain the efforts of those who would sow seeds of hatred and ill will among nations. Bless all efforts for peace. Direct the course of this world that your will may be done. Cause quiet and order to prevail everywhere, that the message of Your Word may without any obstacle or hindrance be carried to the far corners of the earth.

For Loved Ones In The Military

Dear Heavenly Father, I come before your throne of grace on behalf of ____________________, who is absent from the family circle by the nation’s call to service. I know you are present everywhere; I know that you are also present where he (she) is now serving. But I pray today that ___________________ will feel your sustaining presence while in strange surroundings. Protect him (her) when harm and danger threaten body and soul; be close to him (her) in every trial and temptation. Let Your Word be a lamp to his (her) feet and light to his (her) path. Increase his (her) faith and trust in you.

Though we are far from one another in the body, keep us close to one another in spirit and united by a common faith in you.

At the appointed time grant us a happy reunion with __________________ in our family circle, and may every member of our family have a place in the company of the saints in your glory everlasting.

For Overcoming My Fears

Dear God, Heavenly Father, “Who do I turn to in Heaven but you? And there is no one on earth that I yearn for but you. My human flesh and my heart fail me, but you’re the strength of my heart and my salvation forever.”

I am so grateful that you are my God, who has promised never to leave me or forsake me. I trust Your Word that nothing will be able to separate me from your love.
I am ashamed to confess that sometimes my heart is filled with fear as I look at the trouble and turmoil in the world today. Sometimes I am afraid to face a difficult problem in my personal life. Forgive my little faith. Increase my faith in your loving- kindness and in your almighty power that I will be able to overcome my fears and meet every trying experience with confidence. Make your strength perfect in my weakness.

By your Holy Spirit enable me confidently to say, “I will fear no evil, for Thou art with me.”

For Overcoming My Worries

Lord God, my Heavenly Father, who has made all things by the Word of your power, I, your unworthy creature, give you all praise and honor. Even though the immensity of your creation overwhelms me, you have assured me of your infinite and continuing love.

As I struggle with my petty problems and am troubled by the worries that block my path through this world, grant me the assurance that you are my loving Father and I your cherished child. Free me from the anxieties of life. Lift me up from the depths of despair. Give me grace to accept the forgiveness you have provided for all believers. Cause me in the midst of every difficulty and test, every grief and sadness, to trust your divine intervention and to look to you alone for help. Make all things work together for my blessed deliverance into eternal life with you, Oh God.

To Receive An After Death Communication

Dear God, my Heavenly Father, I come to you with a heavy heart and a confused mind. Lord, my loved one, _____________, has gone home to be with you in your Heavenly Kingdom. I rejoice with all the Heavens that, ____________, is at peace in your loving care, but my human condition causes me to continually grieve for him (her). My selfish human nature makes me long to have my loved one back with me here on earth. Lord of Mercy, please comfort my grieving heart and instill your patience in me so that I may live out the life that you have so graciously given me in joy, kindness, and honor to you, with the knowledge that at your chosen time, I too, will join you and my loved ones in your kingdom, never to be separated again.

Lord, please have mercy on my weak human condition, and if it be your will, please allow my loved one, _____________, to come to me with your blessing and protection in little ways that might comfort my grieving heart. I know that all things are possible through you. If you see fit to allow me this Heavenly communication with my loved one, please make my heart joyful and thankful, and allow this gift to push me towards living my life more fully rather than being stuck in grief and longing.

Heavenly Father, please protect me from all evil entities that may try to take advantage of my vulnerable state.

Lord, please continue to refresh my mind and soul with the knowledge that this condition is temporary, and that one day I will be reunited with all my loved ones in your Heavenly Kingdom.

God, grant me the serenity

Dear God, I ask You for help in finding work

Lord God, Heavenly Father, you know that I love you. I pray for your help in understanding that if I love you, I must love my neighbor also.

The world around me is often indifferent towards the poor, and prejudiced against those of another race or color. Cleanse my heart and mind of all thoughts of pride and prejudice, and plant in me the spirit of tolerance and good will to all.

Help me to be more than merely tolerant; help me to love those who are in need of my love, no matter who they may be. Keep me aware that you have created them all of one blood to dwell on the face of the earth.

Forbid me to ever by an intolerant word or deed offend anymone. Teach me, by your Holy Spirit, to be more like you with every passing day also in loving my neighbor of another race or color.

Cause the spirit of humility and tolerance to increase among men that all may live together in this world in peace and good will.

For The Lonely

Dear God, you have said: "I will never leave you or forsake you." Yet, I feel forsaken and alone. You have assured me that nothing can separate me from your love. Stil my heart is distressed by deadening sense of loneliness.

Father, who can I go to, but you? I believe and am sure that you have the words of eternal life. Strengthen me in my faith, and give me a fuller measure of comfort from your presence.

Give me the grace in my loneliness to search my soul for the cause. If I am lonely because I have refused to give myself in service to others, forgive me for contributing to my loneliness by my own selfishness. If I am lonely because of my loyalty to you and your Gospel, help me to rejoice in my burden.

Direct my thoughts Heavenward, bring me into the company of other believers, and use me as a way to bring joy and blessings to others.

In Time Of Grief & Sorrow

O Father of mercy and God of all comfort, look down on me in my sorrow and affliction. Comfort me with your gracious consolation. As an earthly father pities his children, have compassion on me in my suffering.

Please help me to look on the loss I have suffered as a token of your love. In my distress bring me closer to you. Remind me that in your mysterious providence all things work together for good to those that love you. You have determined that I, together with all believers, must through much tribulation enter into your kingdom.

Allow my present and great grief to purify my heart and help me to emerge a stronger person, better equipped to understand and deal with the problems and troubles of others.

Cause the loss that I have suffered to remind me that the things of earth are temporary, and help me set my sights on things above which are forever.

For A Loved One Who Is Sick

O God of mercy and might, for whom nothing is impossible, and whose delight is to come to the aid of the suffering and troubled, show yourself as the very present help in the sickness which has stricken, ____________. Comfort him (her) with the blessed promise of the forgiveness of his (her) sins and allow him (her) patience in suffering until in your wisdom and generosity he (she) may be restored to health again.

Almighty and most merciful God, you are the great Physician. You know the pain and danger which overwhelm him (her), and you alone can provde the relief and help he (she) so desperately needs.

Please give his (her) physicians the knowledge and compassion to control the pain and successfully treat the illness.

Almighty, everlasting God, the eternal Salvation of all who believe, hear my prayers on behalf of_________, and all who are sick; I plead for the aid of your mercy. Graciously heal their bodies and refresh their souls with your comfort so that by being restored to health they may give thanks and once again serve you.

For Safe Travel

Oh God, my Guide and Guard, who is always near me with your mighty power, shield me from all danger as I begin my travel.

I rejoice with the psalmist: "Whither shall I go from Thy Spirit, or whither shall I flee from Thy presence: If I ascend up into Heaven, Thou art there...If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there shall Thy hand lead me, and Thy right hand shall hold me."

Give you holy angels charge over me to keep me safe. Allow them to lift me up in their hands so that I can't be placed in danger.

Give me the common sense to to be careful and use good judgment to abide by all the laws designed for my well-being.

Go with me on my travels. Be my companion, and lead me safely to my destination. If death awaits me on this journey, keep me in true faith to you so that I may reach my ultimate destination
in Heaven.

For Families Having Misunderstandings

O Heavenly Father, you have said: "Except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it." We have forgotten those words, and our home is not a joy to you, or a satisfaction to us. We are laboring in vain, because we are not building our home life according to your specifications.
Forgive our bickering and quarreling, our selfishness and pettiness, our suspicions and hatefulness, our lovelessness and unforgiving spirit. Cleanse our hearts and souls, and enter into our hearts and home with your pardoning grace.
Help us to be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving to one another, just as you have forgiven us.

Turn our hearts and minds to your holy Scriptures so that in them we might find the strength to show Godliness at home.
Establish us more firmly in our family devotion to you. Bind our hearts together by love, and help us to love one another for the pleasure, happiness, and peace it will restore to us.

For A Life Companion

Dear Heavenly Father, who has said, "It is not good that the man should be alone," I come to you asking for help to find someone to spend my life with. I pray for your guidance because I am your child and you are my loving and faithful father.

As I struggle to find my normal place in life and fulfill my mission here on earth, I long to share my love with another.

In your loving mercy direct me to a congenial companion who will appreciate me and return my love.

I do not want to be alone, but much prefer to share my joys and sorrows with a beloved partner - one of my faith and my way of life.

When it pleaseth you, give me the love of one who will pattern his (her) love after yours, and then give me the grace to do the same.

Lord, "I will praise Thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Marvelous are Thy works, and that my soul knoweth right well."
I can not marvel enough when I think of your creation and when I think that you are using us to participate in the creation of a child. I humbly thank you for the privilege, and I pray that you will assist us in being the kind of parents you desire for every child.

Oh God, help us to prepare for the responsibilities of parenthood, and grant that we may never do anything to harm our child bodily or spiritually.

In due time make our present joy complete through the birth of a healthy child, and give us the grace to receive the child as a precious gift from you. Help us always to regard and treat him (her) as your blessing.

When our child is born, give us wisdom to train him right, and keep us from selfishly spoiling him (her). Allow us and our child to always be a joy to you and your holy angels, and may we together praise you in all eternity.

After A Death

Heavenly Father, the death of my dear_________has filled my eyes with tears and my heart with sorrow. I am distressed by the mysteries of your decisions. As your child, I want so much to say, "Not my will, but Thine be done," but at times I find it difficult to do. Forgive me and help me I pray to accept your ways as always the best.

Apply to my wounded heart the balm of your precious promises, and let me soon experience its healing power. Teach me not to mourn as those who have no hope. Wipe away the tears from my eyes that I may be able to see through the mist, beyond death and the grave, to your promise of a glorious reunion in Heaven.

May the passing of___________ remind me that I, too, am just a pilgrim and stranger on earth. Grant me grace to love less and less the things that are material and temporal, and to love more and more the things which ar spiritual and eternal.
